The Atelier

Set by hand, the slow way.

A small atelier for handmade Indian jewellery — chosen piece by piece, described honestly, and stood behind for a year.

Why the name

In old India, wealth you meant to keep forever was held in asharfis — gold coins strung into necklaces, sewn into wedding trousseaus, pressed into a bride’s palm. An asharfi was never spent; it was kept. Asharfian, the plural, is a treasury of them: pieces made to be kept, not consumed.

What we sell today

Our current treasury is hand-set fashion jewellery — American-diamond pavé, kundan-look settings, meenakari-style enamel and cabochon stones on base-metal alloy. Every product page states exactly that. We never describe a plated piece as gold, and we never call a stone by a gem’s name unless it is one; where a look is borrowed, we say “kundan-look” or “ruby-look”.

Where we are going

Kundan is the art of setting stones into a bed of refined gold foil, pressed by hand until it grips the stone without claws. Jadau is the older, heavier cousin: uncut polki set into a lac core, with meenakari painted on the reverse. Real Kundan and Jadau pieces in 925 silver join the treasury as the Virasat and Khazana collections open.

This is not fast fashion jewellery. This is your asharfi.
